I just purchased the small practice medical version of DNS from Know-Brainer and love the accuracy that I am getting. I am using this at home and in the office.  I use Dell computers with 2 GB of RAM and 4GB of RAM each.  I use Sennheiser ME3 microphones on both computers with a USB adapter.  I created an entire new user file during the installation. I also manually copied and pasted all my text commands from a Word file into the new command browser.

It seems as though the default font in the command browser is MS Sans Serif.  When I enter a command, I always change the font to Times New Roman and click the "plain text" box.  Sometimes the font stays in Times New Romans, but many times it reverts back to the MS Sans Serif. This happens on both computers. Why does it do that and is there anything I can do to prevent this? Sometimes the font also changes without a reason when I begin a new paragraph when dictating in Dragon Pad. (I realize that Lunis recommends MS Word as a better choice for dictation, but the spontaneous changing of fonts is strange)

Follow Up:  this is a copy of part of the options.ini file in my user folder:

Command Browser Size And Position=0,0,160,24
Nsbrowse Session Data=34002,Global Commands,,
Forced predefined MyCommands (Medical 10.1)=yesChoice Box Position=423,275,745,515Preview Window showed=1
DictationBox Font=Times New Roman,-16,400,0,0,0,1,0

How can I change the numbers in the Command Browser line to be Times New Roman, size 12?

Thanks.

drjbg301,

If you read my post before I had a chance to edit it, I misunderstood what you were asking for.  Here's the deal.  If you check the Plain Text box in the Text and Graphics macros, what that does is make the text the font and size that is current in the document into which you paste text at the point where the text is pasted by issuing the command.  If you want all of your Text and Graphics macros to always be Times New Roman and a specific font size, then set the font style and size that you want and DON'T check the Plain texts box (i.e., remove the check mark).  The purpose of that checkbox is to always make sure that the font that you're text is displayed in is determined by the application font currently active at the point of insertion.  Unchecking that box means that whatever fonts you set in your Text and Graphics macro will be the font that the text is displayed in regardless of the font and size settings at the insertion point of the application in which you execute the macro.  You just have your thinking cap on backwards.

Just adding to Chuck's perfect answer... if you're using KnowBrainer 2008 you can dictate your boilerplate text commands into any application, highlight the text and say Build a Command which will copy the text to the clipboard, create a New Global Command, put a checkmark in the Plain Text box, paste your boilerplate text into the Content box, move the cursor to the MyCommand Name Field, verbally prompt you to dictate the name of your command and lock on Title Case so that the 1st letter of every word begins with a capital letter.

The reason why we created this command is because it seems that just about the time we get to the end of dictating a paragraph or 2, on a frequently asked question, we realized that it would be nice to automate that answer. Another reason why we created this command is because it's simply too easy to forget to put a checkmark in the Plain Text box. The reason why we like commands to appear in Title Case is so that when you see them appear in the results box, you will immediately be gratified in the knowledge that NaturallySpeaking understood that you want to deploy a command rather than dictation and now you know why we created KnowBrainer...

Didn't get a chance to thank Chuck and Lunis for their responses.  This clarified the issue and solved my problem.  Always grateful.   Jake
