I want to make a command that is a break reminder for repetitive strain injury. I would like to say a command that would start a 15 minute time window. 15 minutes later I would like for a box to pop up that says take a break and some kind of sound to play. WMA, MP3. I would also like to make a 10 minute time window reminder. Thank you-Jamie I am using Dragon 10 on my home computer

We don't think this would be possible from within NaturallySpeaking because it would require NaturallySpeaking to literally pause (wait), making it impossible to deploy other verbal commands or dictation. However, if you're using an application such as Outlook, you could write a macro that would create a New Appointment (which is already in KnowBrainer), jump to the Time field, increase the time by 15 min., and save the command. You can preset reminders in Outlook to 0 min. (as opposed to the default 15 min. setting) and you can choose a wav file to play automatically. Of course we don't even know if you use Outlook so at this point, we can only throw out ideas.
Another option would be to create a command using some sort of third-party Timer utility that you can preset. Our last (not to mention preferred) recommendation would be to leave your computer completely out of the equation and simply use a hardware timer. This approach is eloquent, simple and effective. -------------------------

Jamie, I would not attempt to do something like that in Advanced Scripting. Even if you could script it, you would still have to activate it by voice command. There are programs that handle this sort of tasks, e.g. WorkRave (http://www.workrave.org/). It's free. You could create a HTA file, Hyper Text Application, and then schedule the application in Windows "Scheduled Tasks" from the control pannel. 1. create a file, c:\temp\popup.hta with the code from the attached file. 2. copy the image from "http://www.cyanss.demon.co.uk/images/aches.gif" to c:/temp/aches.gif. 3. create a scheduled task using the control panel application "Schedule Tasks" that calls the HTA file every day, repeating at 15 minute intervals.
