I want to know if anyone has been able to make a microphone work within a virtual box. Given our previous discussions with the other members in this forum, we know that one can operate DNS within a guest system. It would be quite an asset to have KB 2011 and DNS running inside a virtual box while continuing to work on one’s host system. Has anyone been able to get one or even a second microphone working on both systems simultaneously? What I mean by this is has anyone been able to get DNS fully functioning within a guest system without compromising the ability of the host system to recognize that same microphone or the other? So far, the only thing I have been able to accomplish is to operate my guest system as a transcriber. It seems to me that this would be a very difficult operation to accomplish because there is some sort of interference preventing simultaneous use-- a problem that other Windows 7 users have experienced. However, if one were to buy a mixer, for example, would that somehow allow Windows to recognize that second microphone in the virtual box so that one could fully utilize Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 and KB? If, for example, I wanted to batch convert numerous Word files into PDF, I would like to run a KB script within that virtual box without compromising the usability of the microphone on the host system. As you know, when one begins to use KB with extensive scripts, the computer is essentially unusable during that time. To be able to access a second microphone, or even a single microphone, on both the host and guest systems in a virtual box would give the user a tremendous amount of options. Any insight the community could offer on this point would be much appreciated Cordially, Scipio------------------------- DNS v.11 Pref;Win 7, Sandy Bridge 2600k, 16 GB RAM; Hitachi 7200 hddrive 1.5 TB; Knowbrainer 2011 Rev B; Sennheiser MD 431 II (Olympus ME 31 for Handheld digital recordings and Samson Q7 [mostly]); Andrea sound card USB |
