I have noticed a terrible phenomenon whenever I use Notepad or DragonPad.  I would dictate into any one of those applications as you normally would.  If I then say the Knowbrainer command, 'Cancel,' then either one of those applications will simply disappear with all my work on it.  I have since deleted the word 'Cancel' from the Knowbrainer sidebar.

I have brought this to the attention of not only Lunis but anyone else out there who may suffer the same consequences.

If this is a case of me not having updated to the latest version of the software, then please let me know.  By updating, would this have cured the problem?

I thought I had already updated to the latest version but I may not have.  If not, it seems as though the software needs to be updated so many times.

Cheers

The Cancel command can only deploy within Notepad and never another application. We just changed the script to copy everything to Windows clipboard before abruptly exiting. Now you will have a copy of your work which might come in handy when you wish to control the Transfer command paste.

Too late, I have completely deleted it and yes, it did happen one time when I was in DragonPad.

Cheers

Tiger,

Your feedback is very importance. In this case we had whether to remove or edit the Notepad Cancel command. It is not an important command but for now, we have decided to preserve Cancel by making it safe. Even if the Notepad's Cancel command somehow deploys in another application it should only be able to close Notepad (without a prompt; not any other application) and as a backup, it will save everything to Windows clipboard, before misbehaving. We are just mentioning this because the next time you update KnowBrainer this command will return. If it causes more problems, we will permanently delete it of course.

EDIT: You were correct. There was a copy of the Cancel command in DragonPad which, as you noted, was risky so it was removed. We believe this type of command should only exist Notepad and the KnowBrainer Command Editor. Clearly there was too much Thunderbird involved in the previous decision. Our apologies for that one

No problem Lunis, I will update again in the near future. This time, I will disable it instead of deleting it in the 'Manage Commands' section of the KnowBrainer sidebar if I can.

The only reason I brought it up is because that command annoyingly, completely cancelled the Notepad or DragonPad you'd be working in with all your dictated work on it. If I then bought another Notepad up and tried to paste the contents back, it didn't work. Perhaps it does now that you've changed it?

I just wanted to warn others of the bug, that's all.

Cheers

You were correct to bring this up. We edited the latest version of the Cancel command so that it now copies everything to the clipboard before exiting Notepad. We additionally 86ed the Cancel  command from DragonPad. It is the old Cancel command that didn't save everything to the clipboard; not the new one released last night.

When we are not certain as to whether or not we wish to preserve a command, we rename it by putting the word “TEST” in front of the name.
