Dragon Preferred 8

1024MB RAM

User files corrupted some time ago. Followed renaming procedures to make last 'backup' the 'current' user. Works well for a while, and then seems to corrupt after a 2 to 3 weeks of frequent usage.

Any advice on how to stop the cycle, without pulling my hair out? :-)

The problem is most likely with your computer and coming up with a solution may be somewhat elusive.  Fortunately we have a work around ;-).  Move your user files to a thumb drive.  You will find a step-by-step, on this process, in our Quick Tips by looking up “thumb”.  This is how we've used our user files for years and we have the added convenience of being able to use our user files in any computer.  We call this the poor man's roaming user profile.  Why do we recommend using a thumb drive?  Because there are no moving parts so there is less chance of corrupting your user files.  However you should also keep in mind that a typical thumb drive can only be used 10,000 times so we still recommend making a monthly backup of your user files.
