Question From VoiceRecognition Forum

Quote:
I used to find a directory, called "training", than some *.BIN files (DATA0.bin etc...), that were only text files. in there there were the "books" you have to read to train dragon naturally speaking. You could modify them, and add some NEW lecture, reading. it was easy, usefull, and permits a regular non-boring-training. simply copy and paste a article from the web and read it

You will find a step-by-step on how to replace the training files in our Quick Tips by searching for “training” but we recommend against it.  In previous versions of NaturallySpeaking there was a good deal discussion on whether or not replacing the training files really helped and we believe that it marginally assisted some people but Ver. 9 works differently.  Rather than to go into detail on this subject, which has been more than adequately answered on this forum, we will simply say that replacing the training files is pretty much a waste of time.  The path of least resistance is to go with the canned training.  We really don't believe you will see any difference and to prove our point, we released a product called UniVoice which is a universal non-gender/non-age-specific pretrained (that's right, it doesn't require any training) NaturallySpeaking user file which works in NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9 and higher.

We additionally concur with Martin's advice.  If you want to make NaturallySpeaking more accurate, put your time into the Vocabulary Editor by adding personalized commonly used phrases (not individual words).  This will give you the most bang for the buck.
