hi, I'm a long time Knowbrainer user but I'm considering not using it on my work computer because I already have VoiceComputer and SpeechProductivity Pro and thought that not downloading KB might help with speed.

But I have only been depending on KB Verbal Basic for dictating commands (I write simple commands). How do you create your command scripts by voice? I'm assuming there might be scripting commands within Dragon that I am not aware of, or other third-party utilities?

I'm thinking quickly scripting for pressing keyboard shortcuts, pauses between actions, AppBring up, shellexecute, etc.

thank you!

Lunis, I believe I suggested this earlier. Maybe you can convert the most important part of the powerful Verbal Basic command set to DVC

Mostly for VoiceComputer users (and DPI 15.3 users) such as myself?

We don't recommend using shortcut keys because it would be too limited and you won't be able to take advantage of artificial intelligence. You can create an entire command, name the command and save the command with a single command which takes less than 2 seconds. Not knowing what you are doing is almost a requirement VerbalBasic utilizes WYSWYS (What You See Is What You Say) and it's easily 20 times faster. Keep in mind that we made VerbalBasic simple enough for Eric Trump. Just open your KnowBrainer Manual to page 39 for details and videos

While DVC scripting makes a big difference in DPI 15.3 SAX scripting, it offers no advantage in DPI 15.61, because of the WinWrap Basic scripting engine. Keep in mind that a DPI 15.xx patch or Ver. 16 is on the way. Ver. 15.3 will should no longer offer any advantages. Additionally, adding DVC scripting temporarily to KnowBrainer would make VerbalBasic more complicated and possibly slow it down. Even though KnowBrainer 2020 supports DVC scripting, it really only does so for Dragon. At the moment, you can use VerbalBasic in Dragon or KnowBrainer but KnowBrainer 2023 VerbalBasic will be limited to creating commands in KnowBrainer because the new Command Browser will be equivalent to the Dragon Command Browser on steroids. In other words, you will no longer want to create commands in Dragon because KnowBrainer commands will deploy noticeably faster, easier to organize, export and import commands. KnowBrainer 2020 is the last release of the 3rd generation. We are now beginning the fourth-generation, which is still a long way off.

That is certainly my experience. The scripting engine in 15.61 is lightning fast and SendKeys instructions execute very quickly. I see absolutely no reason to use DVC commands.

I'm not sure your question is in relation to the tools you're using or if you're asking about other tools.  With regards to the latter, I use Vocola 2 - Language Tutorial which has a very  intuitive syntax for voice commands and will let you quickly edit voice commands by saying "Edit commands".  It's also free, open source and based on Python which are all a plus. But if you already have other tools it might not be worth the switch.

I use a little systemwide script recorder that I hacked together from an example utility called "IdleUI" by Paul DiLascia. It outputs only in Vocola 2 format.
