I saw earlier posts that pointed out problems. Is DMPE 3 coming out any day?

Nuance's official word is that they will never issue a US/Canadian DMPE 3 release because they want physicians to upgrade to the cloud version of Dragon Medical which requires a 36 month agreement and costs $135 per month. Other drawbacks include no local Dragon user profile, no local Dragon installation, a full time Internet connection to the Nuance server, no Advanced-Scripting, no Macro Recorder capability and limited vocabulary choices. While we can see some advantages (full EMR text control and fast dictation), in our opinion, Nuance should have additionally continued the box releases which would give physicians 2 choices. This is 1 of the reasons we are planning on creating KnowBrainer Universal which will include its own speech engine that will allow it to work with any other Windows speech recognition application such as Dragon, WSR Cortana and M*Modal. Our completely unqualified opinion, which is based on absolutely no facts, is that Nuance will reconsider this decision and release DMPE 4 in the 2nd quarter of 2017. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

Thanks Lunis but to complete the question: what about Win10? Looks like it's getting to be time to upgrade....

Our inside Nuance contact has informed us that Nuance plans on releasing a complementary DMPE 2.x upgrade to existing DMPE 2 users with Windows 10 support and possibly Office 2016 support. Note that this decision is not written in stone and may never happened. Assuming it does happen, we won't likely be given advance notice. Nuance claims that they have no plans for a DMPE 3 release because they want everyone to upgrade to Dragon Medical One (pure cloud computing) which has apparently run into some problems and hasn't released it yet. On a personal level, we believe Dragon Medical One may experience some marketing difficulties because of the price, requiring a three-year contract and loss of command functionality. Everyone seems to agree that Nuance should've released DMPE 3 and Dragon Medical One (when it is ready) and let end-users choose between the 2 offerings. We suspect that Nuance will eventually give in to overwhelming peer pressure. ------------------------- Change "No" to "Know" w/KnowBrainer 2022 |

I briefly received a message service pack 2.3 was available for DMPE 2, but didn't download and now doesn't show up in updates.
Did anyone else receive this? ------------------------- Lawrence D Morton |

I installed DMPE 2 on windows 10 and had all sorts of problems with our EMR (GE Centricity) Lock ups, DMPE crashing, the EMR crashing, you name it.
Not recommended. |

I've also gone from DMPE2 running beautifully on Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Home (on a separate new build). Hopeless, freezes and also freezes Word 2007 with the add-ins. I've done reinstalls and finally went back to Windows 7 but now have the same problem in Win 7. I think it is a software issue with AppHangB1 & agent.exe updates that locks up the program causing interminable delays.
That said, there were fleeting moments when DMPE2 was fine in Word under Windows 10. Just seized up after re-boots. |

I have been using DMPE2 on an unfriendly EMR (eSPHINX which you can pray that you never hear about again) on a dual boot machine alternating between Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 since September. I have to admit that on that *#% of an EMR there is not much difference -- equal opportunity frustration. I have not had issues with the EMR freezing any more than on Windows 7, it does that often enough on both platforms. Office 2010 works well on both without freezing -- I guess I am lucky. |
