As Thalon pointed out, you can only say MouseGrid to extend your 9 numbered box grid over your primary monitor. It might seem like you can say MouseWindow to add the numbered box to a specific window on any monitor but as soon as you say the next number, it will jump to the primary monitor. This technology hasn't been updated since the last century and could use a facelift but since you are using KnowBrainer 2017, you already have a much better backup solution. Also note that you cannot use the MouseGrid command on Windows 10 apps; even on your primary monitor. The MouseGrid command can also require 6 additional commands to close in on the X and Y coordinate you wish to click on but forget about all that.

Try using your KnowBrainer DISPLAY Numbers command on any monitor in any window. When you say DISPLAY Numbers, it will number every possible position or menu that you can left click, right-click, middle click or double-click on. You know only need 2 commands instead of up to 6 MouseGrid commands and you are not limited to a specific monitor. DISPLAY Numbers also works on the Windows 10 apps. However, it doesn't work on Google Chrome.

Charles,

Lunis basically hit the nail on the head. The fact that you appear to be using DMPE 2, shows how far back, and it goes even further back than that version - a long way back,

Dragon's mouse commands go. In fact, even in DPI 15, they are still written in DVC scripting, which was last formally used in DNS 5.5.

Since these haven't changed since DVC scripting was first introduced in Dragon, you're looking at a feature that came into existence long before the capability of using multiple monitors.

Perhaps in some future version Nuance might decide to update these, but I think that probability is just one tick above 0%. One of the things that we've done with VoiceComputer,

and Lindsay has done with SpeechStart+tm, is to support Screen Grid's and mouse commands on multiple monitors.

Chuck

Almost doesn't count except in horseshoes and grenades.

SpeechStart+ does 3 things really well:

1.  Allows you to turn your microphone completely off with Dragon and then verbally turn it on the SpeechStart+

2. Allows you to re-launch Dragon
and KnowBrainer (if you are using KnowBrainer), by saying RESTART Dragon; even when Dragon freezes

3. Allows you to use numerous variations of SHOW Numbers which is a Cadillac version of the KnowBrainer DISPLAY Numbers command. SHOW Numbers is a Windows specific command that numbers every possible position you can Left Click, Middle Click, Right-Click or Double-Click on. Even if the Dragon circa 90s MouseGrid and MouseWindow commands worked on multiple monitors, they are significantly out of date. You might have to say as many as 7 commands to reach the point you need to click on when SHOW Numbers and DISPLAY Numbers can get the job done in 2 moves. In our opinion, it's time to retire the MouseGrid and while we are on the subject, open-ended vocabulary commands have all but retired the Dictation Box.

Rica,

You're quoting me verbatim. Question is why? There's no point to your post other than to quote what I've already said above.

Would you be so kind as to clarify?

It's a bit of an overkill solution but using the advice from a stackoverflow post I wrote a command that uses

MultiMonitorTool to swap your primary monitors and then activates mousegrid

This is the command "Mousegrid Left", and "Mousegrid Right" simply uses "/SetPrimary 2"

'requires the utility http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/multi_monitor_tool.html to be placed
in program files/multimonitortool

Sub Main
    SendSystemKeys "{WIN+r}"
    SendKeys "C:\Program Files\multimonitortool\MultiMonitorTool.exe /SetPrimary 1"
    SendSystemKeys "{ENTER}"
    HeardWord "MouseGrid"
End Sub
It's not elegant in that the run windows flash up and it messes up your desktop icons,
but it does work and I'm happy to see others build upon it.

I didn't know SendSystemKeys "{WIN+r}" also worked in Advanced Scripting. I thought it only did in DVC scripting (but that's probably SendKeys only).

Having a Run box popping up and messing up your desktop icons in order to use the Dragon® MouseGrid indeed is less than perfect

You may want to check out the SP 7 PRO Pointer Grid. It has multi-monitor support right out of the box.

I haven't really explored the differences yet and have just been copy-pasting to find commands with the parameters that I need. My first real introduction to dragon has been with 15.6.

I'm intrigued by the Speech Productivity software and hope to try it out, does it have anywhere the ability to display numbers like speechstart/kb/vc?

I made some improvements today using a Step by Step command Open (application) directly on the Multimonitor App with the argument /SetPrimary 1(or 2) and setting it to run minimized, then calling both this command and the mousegrid command using HeardWord, this isn't any faster but it does prevent the popups

                    Welcome (See Mission Statement)

If you can wait a little longer, you probably won't have to worry about a multiple monitor MouseGrid feature because it will no longer be necessary. The local scuttlebutt is that global numbering will be included in Dragon 16 and is already included in Voice Access which is only currently available in Windows 11 Beta and DEV. We have been testing Voice Access for a few months. It's not quite ready for prime time but is not a bad introduction to numbering

Vittra_Whitetaill,

Although Speech Productivity has about every enhancement to Dragon® any user could possibly want (and there's a total of 25 new modules planned for next year), we don't have numbering/tagging the way SpeechStart+ and VoiceComputer have. The numbering feature of Voice Access featured in the Windows 11 developer builds indeed works very well too.

But if global numbering will be included in Dragon® 16 that would be best for sure. Particularly if it's implemented in browsers too. About browsers, did you check out Mark's ClickByVoice Chrome/Edge extension:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/click-by-voice/dleiijbbjajmfcaiiiadgjpgfjmfdfen?hl=en

KnowBrainer 2020 features all the voice commands you need to operate the extension by voice.

When it comes to accessibility in apps that are truly and utterly speech unfriendly (some Metro apps and Delphi coded applications), the VoiceComputer My Intags are worth mentioning. This feature will most likely not be included in either Voice Access nor Dragon® natively. The option to create your own clickable numbered points in any app/window is really great. I'm demonstrating it here with with the music creation program Band-In-A-Box:

https://youtu.be/yq2zXvLQXB0

Several times through the years I have requested an enhancement to this feature to the developer. Namely substituting the numbers with an editable text label (and customizable text color). That way the user could create his/her own completely speech friendly, intuitive overlay for any application. Picture the possibilities: any app could be made speech friendly in any language as well. Alas, my concept was not acted upon....

But it if I remember correctly this concept was implemented eventually (by the other team) in the Mac Catalina OS...I hope one day this option will be available in Windows as well.

I would be thrilled to get universal numbering in the next version of Dragon, whenever it comes out. There are still some occasions though where you need mouse movement (eg selecting a screenshot boundary or doing spot healing on a photo) where mousegrid is helpful so I hope they don't remove it altogether.

I've tested windows voice access and saying it's in its infancy is very accurate. It works great for awhile and then I ask it to click something and it asks "1 or 2", I say 2 and it yells that there is no number 2, throws it's toys on the floor and runs to it's bedroom crying (aka it crashes). It will be amazing when it works though.
