I did download speech productivity recently, I wonder if it could be interfering with Knowbrainer or Dragon

SP Pro 6 shouldn't be a problem and is made to work with Dragon, KnowBrainer and we believe, DragonCapture. Have you tried temporarily disabling SP Pro 6 and launching Dragon without it? We can see that your Dragon user profile also has a checkmark in Have the microphone on but asleep to open with the microphone in the Asleep state rather than completely off as it currently is when launching Dragon. It would appear that something is impairing your user profile. If this doesn't work, try disabling all Dragon related utilities to hopefully source the culprit ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

If, for any reason, the problem is with the microphone not working as expected when first loading the profile, I would suggest doing as Lunis suggested, by eliminating all add-ons which might possibly come into play, to eliminate the culprit.
Dragon, on its own, won't be the problem by any means. DragonCapture, on the other hand, shouldn't also be the problem, because (a) it doesn't interfere with the microphone at any level, and (b) it isn't even capable of impacting on the process of loading the profile, as it depends on Dragon completely the other way around. -------------------------

Thank you very much, Lunis and Ruediger, You know, I think it may be the twist Mike, which sometimes doesn't make a USB connection noise when it plugs into the laptop. But the microphone records well. Does this mean I need a new TwistMike, or could it be just a new plug?

John, Windows 10 doesn't always emit a sound when plugging or unplugging a USB device. If Windows lost the USB connection to the microphone, the microphone icon wouldn't even show red on the Dragon bar, so the microphone isn't likely the problem. -------------------------

John,
Unless you have added some SP modules to Windows startup yourself, there is no such thing as "loading Dragon with SP".
Contrary to the other available Dragon add-ons, Speech Productivity consists of stand-alone executables that don't "hook" into Dragon in any way. Most of the SP modules don't even need Dragon to run. So it's not very likely that either SP PRO or SP Standard would meddle with your audio system or Dragon user profile in any way.
I watched your video and I suspect some kind of corruption of your Dragon user profile. You can find out easy enough by testing your microphone with a free audio recording program like Audacity before loading Dragon or while Dragon is running (make sure to set the same microphone as default in Audacity).
If you don't see any deviations in the audio recordings then you may want to create a new Dragon user profile which will probably solve the issue. ------------------------- Auto Box - SP Editor - HyperNotes - Pause Reminder - Speaker - Quick Correct - Easy Guide to Dragon Scripting |

Interesting. Enough to make me very interested in SpeechPro, sincde I stringly suspect that many of the frustrating problems I have encountered are due to interractions between Dragon and add-ons.
Q: how does Speech Productivity work? Does t have its own recognition engine for a small vocabulary the way SpeechStart+ does, running in parallel to Dragon's? That woud scare me a bit, since I can see both Dragion and SpeechStart+ respond to the same utterance sometimes, but if it works for Speech Productivity... ------------------------- DPG15.6 (also DPI 15.3) + KB, Sennheiser MB Pro 1 UC ML, BTD 800 dongle, Windows 10 Pro, MS Surface Book 3, Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.3/1.5GHz (4 cores, 8 logical, GPU=NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 with Max-Q Design. |

SP Pro is not a speech recognition utility with a separate speech engine. Think of it as a very smart Dictation Box which is probably most commonly used for Smart Dictation with the ability to transfer your dictation into a target application; similar to Dragon's Dictation Box but with style on steroids. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

So I think I may be having the same problem. On my work computer, using DPI 15.3, recently, my microphone will just turn off and show me the red icon. Then, when I use the mouse to click on it back to green it is completely unresponsive. It requires me to close the program and reopen it. Sometimes that won't work and I have to completely restart my computer.
I'm not running any third party dictation program with this that could be causing it. I feel like I'm starting to notice it after a different application i.e. Adobe has a pop-up notification, but not too sure on that. Any thoughts or help on this? Thank you! |

We believe this is a motherboard problem. When a computer gets a little too warm, it can lose USB connections. You might want to consider having your computer bench tested because this doesn't sound like a Dragon or soundcard issue but we could be wrong. If you have another USB soundcard, try it before having your computer bench tested. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

I made a new user profile, but I am having the same problem I had before. When I load Dragon, everything is fine at first. It asks me which of my two profiles I would like to load, I choose the new one, but then after a certain amount of time, the microphone-off red icon will not change to green when I click on it . And around that time, I will see an error message stating that there is no audio input. But when I go check out device manager, I just see that the device is working properly.
And the solution is to load again the same user profile. Then it works again. , Might I have to reinstall? I sometimes get a Dragon error message that my user profile can't be saved because "the file exists." But other times fine. My Dragon is also terribly slow. When I click on the microphone icon, it won't change color for a few seconds I am having terrible focus problems. When I mouseclick on the cursor, it goes to the bottom of the word document. Thank you! Using my laptop ------------------------- DPI 15.3, KB 2017, DESKTOP: Dell Inspiron 3670, Windows 10 Home 64, Sennheiser MD431 II+Andrea USB-MA, 8 GB RAM. If Dragon runs at all, it's probably not the problem. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |
