I am using DNS 15.3 and KnowBrainer Professional 2017 on an HP computer with a core i7-8700 CPU, 3.20 GHz, 16 GB RAM (15.8 usable), and a 64-bit operating system. I am an editor and heavy user of DNS, and have been using this computer to dictate into Microsoft Word with very few issues over the past two years. Today, however, the DNS program and Word froze, and I got a message saying that the problem was an "out-of-memory" error. I was then prompted to disable an add-in that allowed DNS to work with MS Word. After some time spent closing applications and shutting the computer down, I restarted Dragon and then received a message that I also needed to restart Word. Questions: what is causing this problem? Is this something that should be addressed? And if so, is there a simple fix? The computer seems to have plenty of memory and processing power, and DNS generally runs fast and smoothly, so I'm not sure why I would get an out-of-memory error message. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

How large or how long was that particular word document and was it just text or also elements such as graphics, tables and the likes?

Thanks for responding and also to Lunis in next message. The document was MS Word only, no special graphics, etc., so it's hard to know what caused this. I did of course shut down the computer and reboot. DNS has been working fine since that point (last Friday) and I have not been asked to restart Microsoft Word. I will take the same approach if this happens again — hopefully the problem won't recur.

Welcome (See Mission Statement)
Have you tried completely shutting down your computer and then rebooting? Sometimes a reboot doesn't quite purge everything. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |
