I have the same experience.
The only options I am aware of for navigating these inaccessible screens is to use "mouse move" commands (which is a painstakingly slow way to access the Settings window), or to send keystrokes: "press tab" to navigate within one area and into another, "move [right, left, down, up] [1-20]" commands to move within an area of the screen, and "press Enter" to activate a focused button. |

The Dragon MouseGrid feature, which is also included in Voice Access (and just as limited), hasn't been updated since the turn-of-the-century. MouseGrid simply doesn't work in all Windows 10/11 apps. This is why we created our own version, in KnowBrainer 2017/2020, called MouseGrid Screen. If you are not a KnowBrainer user, you can manually add this KnowBrainer command into the Dragon but note this a DVC script and not a standard Advanced-Scripting VB Script.

On my system it makes no difference if I use MouseGrid or MouseGrid 1. It displays only the main grid. It might be interesting to also have the Mouse 1-9 functionality (made a typo in the below script, just updated the post
SendSystemKeys "{Win+b}" If _arg1 = "1" then HeardWord "Mouse","one" If _arg1 = "2" then HeardWord "Mouse","two" If _arg1 = "3" then HeardWord "Mouse","three" If _arg1 = "4" then HeardWord "Mouse","four" If _arg1 = "5" then HeardWord "Mouse","five" If _arg1 = "6" then HeardWord "Mouse","six" If _arg1 = "7" then HeardWord "Mouse","seven" If _arg1 = "8" then HeardWord "Mouse","eight" If _arg1 = "9" then HeardWord "Mouse","nine"
However, I noticed in one of the Windows 11 beta versions that the Win+B shortcut didn't work anymore all of a sudden... That might've been a bug on my system, or Microsoft might actually remove that functionality
It's true, the Dragon® MouseGrid hasn't been upgraded over the years. But our Grids have. The Pointer Grid in SP Standard not only has a large 500 cell grid, it also features a 1to9 (80 cell) grid for quick positioning in any of the screen locations from (from Top Left through Bottom Right). It works everywhere, Windows apps, PC Settings windows, it won't discriminate :-).
BTW, we got a completely new generation Grid coming up, the most powerful one I've ever seen. It will allow moving, resizing, colorization, and changing other parameters dynamically and in real time. It's on the shelf and mostly finished. I will either add it to the next SP Standard version or make it a standalone utility, not sure yet. ------------------------- Turbocharge your Dragon productivity with 40+ Power Addons |

That's fine-I just wanted to check that it would not only me. Although our PCs are meant to be automatically patched, while helping me switch over to the new laptop, the engineer noticed my old laptop was significantly not up to date-this is probably why I've not seen this behaviour before.
I have 2 workarounds-I have a command mouse [1-9] [1-99]. This moves the mouse from the current position, in the direction, for the number of pixels. I also have my own version of mouse grid, which spans multiple screens. Unfortunately it does have some bugs (like it did not have focus if it is over a remote desktop connection, also while it usually works, sometimes you do need to click twice because the original app has lost focus). After saying this I do use it quite a lot. ------------------------- DPI 15.6.1 |
