I am working from  page 60 of the latest KB Manual.  I am able to get the Auto transcribe Folder Agent to open its screen by doing the Windows search. However, then it shows an error which is

Error: Failed to open input directory F:\DSS_FLDA\

I went ahead and clicked Task and New as  the  manual told me to do anyway.  When I Click on the three dots,I get the Browse for Folder -- Choose Directory box.  However, I can't do what the page 60 step 4 tells me to: find "our DS-9500 F: Drive." I can't find anything named DS-9500 (Also, I noticed that I already have an F drive which is WINRETOOLS).

I tried several times, but always got the same error message.  I assume, as usual, I'm doing something wrong. So please tell me what I should do.

Thanks--  Lloyd

Is your Olympus DS-9500 connected to your computer? Even if it is, Windows may have assigned it a different drive letter. After Verifying that your recorder is connected (this step is required), make certain you have the right address

OOOps! Yes, I neglected to do that pesky little thing of connecting the recorder to the computer. Once I did that, I made some little recordings and transcribed them. So I think I have a pretty good handle on how to do that in the non-Auto method.

However, when I tried using the Auto Transcribe Folder Agent, I couldn't quite do it. I was fine through page 62 of the manual. Then I got lost. I understand to make the Input directory G:\DSS_FLDA and the output directory is a folder on my desktop called Output. However I don't see where to choose the name of the file that I want to be transcribed nor a button that says "transcribe." But at least I'm getting close with it.

Some other questions – 1) on my Olympus-2600, when I select the A folder where all my recordings have been placed, it only shows me the very last recording that I made. So I haven't figured out how to choose other ones if I want to edit or delete from the recorder.

2) When and how do I change the audio file name to something more useful – like "Things Make Me Crazy?"

3) what am I supposed to enter where it says Command Line?

4) do I need to change the audio output format each time to rich text file or is there a way of saving that?

Thank you

Lloyd

PS I just noticed an error message when I opened up AutoTranscribe. It says

Error: Failed to open Input Directory F:\DSS_FLDA\

That's probably because my F drive is WINRETOOLS.  My G drive is my DS-2600 where my audio files are going. So I do I fix that?

Thanks again.

The AutoTranscribe Folder Agent is completely automated but can only be used when Dragon isn't running. You don't choose recordings that you want to transcribe and there is no Transcribe button because the process is fully automated. When the AutoTranscribe Folder Agent sees files in your DS-2600 FolderA, it automatically transcribes those recordings without prompts or end user input. It is quite literally plug-and-play.

1. We can't be certain but suspect you simply amended to the same recording rather than creating separate recordings

2. After your recordings are transcribed to the Output folder you can rename your documents, as you would any File Explorer document

3. You can leave the Command line empty

4. You shouldn't need to change the Output file format. It will remember your last choice which is Plain Text, Word Document or Rich Text Format

PS: Dragon also includes a manual transcription option. If you prefer the manual approach, click the DragonBar Transcribe Recording menu. This option includes more steps but is also more bulletproof and doesn't use the AutoTranscribe Folder Agent.
