Since you guys were so helpful last time I had a question about a headset mic I thought I would reach out again about speakers.

I am a court reporter and listen to my For The Record courtroom audio while taking log notes. I'm having trouble finding desktop speakers in the right decibel range for voices. Most have too much bass (I'm guessing) and deeper voices are distorted and "fuzzy", for lack of knowledge of a technical term.

The speakers need to be USB and I would appreciate a headphone jack on the front in case I'm in a noisier environment and need to use an earbud or something.

 

Any suggestions you have as to what dB or hertz or watts range I am looking for or even just a purchase recommendation would be so much appreciated.  I can't speak intelligently to the specifics, I just know what I want it to sound like.

If you are Echo Dictating (listening to courtroom audio while taking Dragon notes) you will not be able to use any speakers. Your only option for this situation would be earbuds or headset speakers

Hi Lunis. Thanks for the reply.  I'm actually not dictating during the recording process right now. I'm using the FTR software to remotely record the courtroom audio (seamless process) while being logged into a Zoom call (some parties in the courtroom and some on Zoom) so I have a single ear headset to listen to Zoom and desk speakers for the FTR audio, and there's a delay between the two audio sources so I need really clear speakers geared for the speaking voice range that don't get fuzzy or have too much bass or low range.

I use Dragon to dictate my transcripts when requested in a separate process but not while recording the original audio.

I just need the right speakers to best hear the live audio. Thank you again for any information or insight.

Speakers haven't been in our area of expertise for more than 30 years but we recommend looking for inexpensive small speakers that do not include a subwoofer or extended base. You might also Google for a software 3 ban or more EQ that you can use to boost the midrange and/or lower the bass & treble to make the voice more pronounced but we doubt this will be necessary
