I needed to change laptops at work. It's the same Dell laptop. I'm running Dragon 15 and KnowBrainer 2017. When I try to dictate at different places and Outlook 2016 it keeps crashing. This wasn't happening before. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this and what can be done. Much thanks! |

Sorry, I've never had a problem with Outlook like that in Office 365 (2016 and previous versions back to Office 2007). ------------------------- VoiceComputer: the only global speech interface. |

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the reply. Since DNS and KnowBrainer are not widely used in my big organization I'm not sure what they can do for me. Nobody else is having any issues with Outlook 365. |

We concur with Chuck. This problem has nothing to do with Dragon or KnowBrainer. The most likely reason for Outlook's instability is because Dragon is likely the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. If your computer's OS or Outlook are fragile in any way, they will typically crash or freeze. You can rule KnowBrainer 2017 out of the equation by simply saying Close KnowBrainer or opening Dragon through the Dragon icon. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

It looks like the culprit was Outlook add-ins. I disabled all the add-ins except for DNS and I'm happy to report that I've been using Outlook for 30 minutes and that hasn't crashed. Thanks Lunis and Chuck for your replies.

We believe DPI 15.3 speaks for itself because no one can type 180 words per minute but that is just the tip of the iceberg. What about fast correcting/editing in KnowBrainer 2017 which includes far too many time-saving commands to list here but suffice it to say that it makes Dragon more efficient and simplifies Dragon use by eliminating most commands. Here are a few Outlook examples: ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

After more research I don't think it was the add-ins. Before I was running Outlook 2016. When I needed a new laptop my tech support loaded Outlook 365 Pro Plus which has more web-based interaction. I believe that's the reason why it was crashing. I just had Outlook 365 Pro Plus uninstalled and Outlook 2016 installed. If I have any issues I'll let everyone know.

I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue. Outlook 365 crashes -- it reboots randomly -- particularly when I am trying to correct a word using DPI.
The draft is typically lost. It renders Outlook unusable with DPI.

Here is a video that shows the behavior that I am talking about:

Any assistance or support would be much appreciated. Thank you. Edit: Using DPI 14 & Outlook 365. Surface Pro 4 with i7 and 16GB RAM on Windows 10. ------------------------- Lenovo ThinkPad Extreme X1 (i7 with 32 GB RAM) | DPI 15.61 |

It looks like your Office 365 is Ver. 2019 which, as PG pointed out, is not DPI 14 compatible and not even DPI 15.3 is fully compatible. DPI 15.3 won't be fully compatible until DPI Ver 15.5 patch is released; supposedly some time this year. Having said that, Outlook shouldn't be crashing. Upgrading to the DPI15.3 Upgrade, is of course, recommended because it's nearly twice as fast as DPI14 and only uses half of your computer's resources. DPI 14 simply doesn't have all the new bells and whistles that was only released one year after Dragon 13 probably, which might mean that DPI 15.3 needed more time. The upgrade might very well fix your problem but it would only be a Band-Aid approach. We recommend reinstalling Outlook but if that doesn't work, you might want your computer bench tested because you could have a hardware issue. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

I don't think any but ver. 15 are (fully) compatible with O365 - but I never recall _THAT_ kind of instability being mentioned w your ver. 14 (and I never used ver 14 myself with O365). Still, it would be better by far if you had told us your specs in the post (rather than the video) or fill out your profile so we could get to the advice-giving. Which in this case is: wait to see what ver 14 users say, or upgrade to ver 15.3 (which is the first ver I saw the new Dragon act well with O365 in general).
Sorry there is no better answer. -------------------------

Ok, well I completed all the information.
It is a shame that this is not working. Email is such an important function of modern Internet life. ------------------------- Lenovo ThinkPad Extreme X1 (i7 with 32 GB RAM) | DPI 15.61 |

Our best guess is that you have a non-Dragon related problem. It might be time to have your computer looked at by a professional. ------------------------- Forum Mission Statement |

@Lunis - our IM-IT folks blame Dragon and won't do anything else about it.

Does the problem continue after you close Dragon and reboot? If so, you can can share that information with IT and if they say it is still Dragon's fault, they are the problem. You might also remind IT that Nuance sells millions of copies of Dragon and if it was the culprit, they would probably be out of business.

Are you still on DPI15.3? The Outlook multi-windows open causing a crash issue is well documented in these forums. You're in luck though, because not only is it now released, but it's 15.6. Get it. -------------------------
